The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) took an important initiative in the field of solar energy on Wednesday when it signed an MoU with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for setting up solar photovoltaic power plant at Lalru in Punjab. The MoU was signed in the presence of Bikramjit Singh Majithia, Minister for Science, Technology, Environment & NCES, by TPS Sidhu, CEO, PEDA, and AK Bansal, Executive, Director, Corporate Affairs, BPCL. The plant would be run on Build, Operate and Own (BOO) basis at Lalru, Distt Mohali. Speaking on this occasion, Majithia said that this plant was a path-breaking project as it would be the first of its kind project in the country being implemented by a petroleum company. He said that PEDA was in touch with other petroleum companies like HPCL, IOC, BP to set up such plants in the State.
